Inktober/Peachtober 2022 Days 17-22

More whimsical drawings and fanciful stories.

For my other Inktober/Peachtober drawings, have a gander here

I went through several ideas for today's prompt - a child looking at snow, people skiing, a snow globe - but they just didn't work out. I had just about decided to post a random sketch when I stumbled upon a sketch of machinery in my sketchbook. For some unknown reason, the synapses in my brain fired in a flurry and I came up with the idea of turning it into a snow machine. And there we have it, a rickety, ramshackle, rattle-trap cloud-sucking, snow-making machine.

It's Day 18 of the 31-day challenge and thanks to random sketches I had previously made, I've been able to post a drawing a day. This drawing is exactly that - I made this sketch sometime in September before I decided to participate in this drawing challenge. It fits today's prompt 'wing' to a T.

For me, this drawing kicked off the whole October drawing challenge. At the end of September, I went through the prompt list and did the first drawing for ths prompt. It only took 5 minutes and I felt so encouraged by the ease of it that I tackled 6 other prompts immediately after. With a week of drawings out of the way, I could feel the excitement build in me. Hmm, it might actually be possible to complete 31 drawings if I modify some of the sketches in my sketchbook, I thought. And so, with some trepidation and giddiness, I committed to the drawing challenge.

Today's drawing (second image) is the companion to that of Day 9 'boulder'. Our introverted intrepid space person is once again spacing out in the cosmos, enjoying the quiet and solitude without a care in the world.

I later named this intrepid introverted space person Ikku イックウ (一 空), a Japanese name that has the character for air/sky/leisure/emptiness (空) in both Chinese and Japanese that nicely reflects his habitat and habits.

Intoducing Beryl the Bun Ambassador. Her job is to promote the consumption of buns and she does a great job because she loves buns. If you come across her on the street, she'll hand you a bun. All she'll do is nod because she believes that buns are fabulous and do not need any help selling themselves. And it works, who would turn down a bun?

This little person just wants to read. She loves getting lost in magical worlds and fantastical universes. It's such a rough landing when she finishes a book and has to come back down to earth.

Free card featuring Bougainvillea Thorne

One of the characters that I drew for Inktober/Peachtober, Bougainvillea Thorne, took on a life of her own. Read about her loves - the sun, bright colours and parties - and her design career here

I made a holiday card featuring Bougainvillea and you can download it for free.

Here's a tip when downloading the card: type $0 in the field for amount to pay (you are given the choice to add another amount, by default).
