Eavesdropping on Pepper and Poppy on World Refugee Day

 

I came up with Pepper and Poppy because I wanted to be able to talk about Palestinians and Palestine in a way that is thoughtful, humorous and playful. 

They could have been any animal but I found a drawing of birds in my sketchbook that were green and red so it had to be these birds since these are the colours of the Palestinian flag. 

I have something to confess though, Pepper and Poppy aren’t actually parakeets. I hadn’t known what type of bird I had drawn in my sketchbook until I checked it up after posting the drawings. They are in fact lovebird parrots. I’m too lazy to make changes to the drawings so they’ll remain parakeets.
