I love bright, colourful things
The red Vespa
I noticed this red Vespa parked at the Holland Village MRT station on several occasions. Cherry red, shiny and bold, it made me think of the movie Roman Holiday where Audrey Hepburn, a princess pretending to be a commoner, gets to enjoy Rome with Gregory Peck. Adventure, romance and joy all wrapped into the movie and the Vespa. For some reason, I associate the colour red with the Vespa in the movie, but when I looked it up recently, I realised that the film is actually in black and white! Does this mean that my memories cannot be relied upon? That I am constantly making things up?

The curvaceous crane
I'm fascinated by the fact that construction vehicles are brightly coloured. The people who design machinery tend to colour them in grey drab colours, but where it comes to construction machines, we get yellows and oranges and reds. I also noticed that there has been a trend towards rounded vehicles, so that they are curvaceous and voluptuous, a design feature I love.![]() |

Stacks of chairs
I drew these chairs because I loved the pattern they created and the colours. These everyday objects, so commonplace and humdrum, brought a spot of cheer in a little corner of Holland Village.
These chairs were stacked outside The Pit at Holland Village, a little watering hole that I like. It's laid back and owned by the uncle of a friend.
Bright colourful things make me happy.
